Winters with their chilly winds and frozen lakes are not conducive to sailing on the pontoon. But summers are a different matter altogether. It is the perfect time to take out the pontoon and go sailing. But even before you leave the dock and go sailing, there are certain pontoon safety tips which have to be kept in mind. They are:
- There should be about as many life jackets as the number of passengers and crew, if not more. Ensuring this should be top priority, as a whopping 80percent dying in boating accidents, die due to drowning.
- The passengers should be properly suited in safety gear and be seated even before the pontoon leaves the dock.
- The pilot and the crew should not be under any influence as it is not only illegal but also risky. In fact about 50percent of boating accidents only in California, occurs due to two boats crashing against one another.
- Unnecessary speeding and taking sharp inward and outward turn should be avoided.
Hence care should be taken from the very beginning so that all trips with family and friends on the pontoon turn out to be as enjoyable as they are risk free by sharpening and brushing up of these safety tips.
